About Prof. Dr. Waldinger

Prof. dr. Marcel D. Waldinger, MD, PhD is a neuropsychiatrist and head of the Outpatient Department of Neurosexology of the HagaHospital, location Leyweg, in The Hague, in the Netherlands. 

In addition, Dr. Waldinger is Professor in Sexual Psychopharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology of the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences of Utrecht University, in the Netherlands.

Prof. Waldinger has internationally become renowned for his investigations into the the neurobiology and psychopharmacology of premature ejaculation and other ejaculatory dysfunctions. For more information see www.vroegtijdigezaadlozing.nl

In addition, Prof. Waldinger has been conducting medical research into the cause and treatment of Restless Genital Syndrome (ReGS). He is one of the very few medical scientists in this field. With his team of researchers, Prof. Waldinger has found ReGS to occur in females and to a lesser extent in males, and that this disorder is caused by a neuropathy of the dorsal nerve of the clitoris (in females) / dorsal nerve of the penis (males). In 2002, Prof. Waldinger published a case report on a post-ejaculatory disorder, which he has called Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome (POIS). Worldwidely, Prof. Waldinger and his team of researchers are the only medical specialists who have investigated POIS. After eight years of scientific research, Prof. Waldinger has announced to have found the cause and treatment of POIS. After his publication on his new research in January 2011, the text of the current website will be adapted to the new information of his studies.

Prof. Dr. M.D. Waldinger is Chairman of the Standard Committee for Orgasm and Ejaculation Disorders of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM). In addition, he is Associate Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and member of various Editorial Boards of scientific journals, such as the Journal Mens Health & Gender, the section Sexual Medicine of the British Journal of Urology, Sexologies-European Journal of Sexology and the pharmacological journal Current Drug Therapy
